Electrophysiological Study (EP Study)

An electrophysiological study (EP study) is an invasive procedure that evaluated abnormal heart rhythm disturbances.

Instructions for electrophysiological study (EP study)

  • Pre-operative work-up
  • You must not eat or drink anything from midnight the night before the test.
  • Stop anticoagulation medication 24 hours prior to procedure except for Coumadin.
  • If you take Coumadin please ask your physician for specific instructions.
  • You will be asked to arrive at the hospital earlier before the procedure.
  • You MUST bring a responsible adult with you to escort you home.
